The Pig & Pilgrim story started when food lovers, Charlie and Alex, married in 2019. The only thing that was a non-negotiable at their wedding was that their guests would be treated to tons of food, cooked outside, over fire. There was only one simple way to make that happen: Charlie, who has a culinary background, would single-handedly cater their wedding of 100 people. The centrepiece of the meal was a beautiful whole lamb cooked over charcoal on a home-made asado BBQ cross, and the night ended with full bellies – of food, and laughter. The next day, Charlie barbecued bacon and egg rolls (the undisputed remedy for a big night) for guests over an Argentinean-style santa maria parrilla grill. Charlie designed and built both the cross and the parrilla himself, from scratch, in Sydney, Australia.
